Spring Saturday Acting Classes
March 11 @ 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Students are grouped by age for our spring classes. The grouping is as follows: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM for the 7- to 11-year-old students; 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM, for the 12- to 17-year-old students. Both groups will participate in a collaboration on one adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragic comedy, the Tempest. This class focuses on students’ learning about Shakespeare’s life and times, and expands on literary devices, such as personification and iambic pentameter. This will culminate in a performance at the 36-hour Shakespeare-a-thon in April.
All students are instructed by our professional resident artists in the Shakesperience Approach. This method embodies the philosophy of the company and leads to a strong, disciplined ensemble, grounded in language and positive interaction, and creates art and educational activities of the highest quality. Students learn to develop action and character through text within a strong, socially responsive ensemble that takes ownership of the work. Students show significant long-term behaviors, including literacy, public speaking, individual and group work ethic, and positive outlook, attitude and self-expression.
