Ron Crowcroft: Reverse Glass Paintings
An event every day that begins at 8:00 AM, repeating until November 30, 2019
Artist Ron Crowcroft displays Reverse Glass Paintings at the Woodbury Public Library November 1 – 30, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
Examples of Reverse Glass Painting, or Hinterglasbilder, have been known since the late 14th century. Used mostly at that time in the decorative arts and by goldsmiths, it was also used by fine artists, as well as by amateur and folk artists. While the paint is applied to one surface of the glass, it is then viewed from the other side.
