Pictures at an Exhibition: Picture Waterbury!
In a multi-media ode to Waterbury, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra uses Mussorgsky’s masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition, to explore the rich history of Northwest Connecticut through photos, video and music. It is a retrospective that is at once local and universal.
This event features Melvin Chen, Professor at Yale School of Music and leading virtuoso pianist of his generation. Chen will perform Pictures at an Exhibition as it was originally composed in 1874, for solo piano, with each of the ten movements a musical depiction of a piece of art.
