EVAN GOTTFRIED’S FAMILY MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA!
July 3, 2017 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PMFREE
The Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston presents Evan Gottfried’s Family Musical Extravaganza! as part of its FREE Thomaston Summer Concert Series 2017.
Evan Gottfried has been making music since he was a kid growing up on Long Island, and his love for it has grown as the years passed. He became a special education teacher because he “wanted to work with people and make a difference in their lives.”
Evan hopes to inspire kids to be creative and silly, have fun, learn cool things, and mostly, to just be themselves. He hopes that the big people who hear his music will also find inspiration, and that they may even remember how it feels to be a kid. He says, “I believe that children are not just mini adults-in-training, but rather fully formed souls that are generally much more in touch with their true, creative selves than most grownups. It is my goal to connect with children through my lyrics, music, and performances. There is a lot of power in music, and I am always amazed at how it can forge connections. I work with students with severe disabilities, and I have done several shows for children with autism, and their love for and connection with music transcends any difference in ‘ability.’
When doing a performance I strive to keep kids really engaged, with my songs, props, puppets, bubbles–even though I may never have met these children before and may never see them again, I appreciate the joy that they are, and I aim to give them a truly special experience. They may not remember this one hour of their life five or ten or thirty years later, but I know that I have brought my best and seen their best, and that these moments mattered because we shared that connection.”
Rain location for this event is the Thomaston High School Auditorium located at 185 Branch Road (Rte. 109), Thomaston, CT 06787.
This concert is sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Thomastons Women’s Fellowship and the Knights of Columbus Council #18.
