Artist Ilmika Kulla to show at the Woodbury Public Library
The Woodbury Public Library is hosting artist Ilmika Kulla in the Library’s Gallery Space during the month of August. The show of mixed media paintings will be on view during the library’s regular open hours, August 3 – 31. Kulla’s style mixes influences of impressionism, expressionism as well as abstract and modern art. Her body of work includes portraits of mostly icons, celebrities, and influential figures you’ll recognize but with an abstract, modern look to them. Kulla was born in Berat, Albania and in 1998, along with her parents, moved to the United States. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Fine Arts. Although Ilmika studied art in college, her passion for it was discovered at a young age. She prides herself on the meditation aspect to art. She says how she gets lost in her head while painting and how magical it is to see an image in your head and then translating that to the canvas. “It’s amazing to see your vision come to life,” she said.
