ACC Programs

The Arts & Culture Collaborative presents a limited number of programs, focusing on broad-brush initiatives and activities involving the arts. Because many of our members present their own programs, shows and exhibits, we do not want to compete with or take away from their efforts. Instead, we focus on facilitating opportunities with members, between members and with the community. If you have questions or ideas about a program you would like to pursue with the ACC, please contact us.

Out For Art

The ACC periodically presents Out for Art, a forum where musicians, dancers, poets, singers, visual artists, actors and anyone in the arts can share with each other and the community at large. Attendance to these events is typically open to the public.

The format includes time for refreshments, networking, and visual and performance showcases. This is our chance to highlight the work and talent of our ACC members and to create awareness about the artistic assets that our region has to offer.

Out for Art has been hosted in locations such as Seven Angels Theatre, Westover School, Taft School, Timexpo Museum and a frame shop and gallery. The ACC can also bring Out for Art to a business or facility to add a new dimension to networking or a special event. For instance, we have taken Out for Art to The Village at East Farms in Waterbury and The Watermark in Southbury, both assisted living facilities. Along with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, we have also incorporated the Out for Art concept into some Out for Business events presented by the Waterbury Regional Chamber.

Downtown Draw

Downtown Draw is an annual interactive chalk-drawing competition for kids of all ages! Created in 2005 by a team of adult students in the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Leadership Program, Downtown Draw had been run by Main Street Waterbury until the ACC took it over in 2010.

Held on the green or in other locations in downtown Waterbury, sidewalks are designated for area schools and non-profit organizations, families, and individual artists to create chalk-art, based on a theme, for a variety of prizes.
